In this lesson, I’ll recap the basic principles and share some additional tips and tools to help you successfully implement what you’ve learned over the past week.
Your action step:
Today’s action step is to reflect on your experiences of the last week. Refer to the Worksheet PDF for questions to help you focus on what you’ve learned. Then click on the “Share My Reflection” button. What most stands out for you about your experiences over the last 6 days? What strides have you made, and what remains challenging?

One of the things you might notice about emotional reactions is they have a wave-like motion that oscillates from optimism to pessimism, from elation to despair, and so on. When you’re upset, your emotional wave can reach tsunami proportions.
Learn how your emotional wave can tell you whether or not you’re ready to make important decisions.
Your action step:
Today’s action step involves…you guessed it! Waiting. Start with something where the stakes are low. Like when an irksome email comes in, and you notice yourself champing at the bit to hit that reply button. Instead, try waiting a few minutes before you reply. For helpful tips, refer to the Worksheet PDF. When you’ve had a chance to experiment with waiting out your emotional wave instead of reacting quickly, click on the “Share My Reflection” button. How was your response different? Were there times when it was harder to wait than others?

Stress and the emotional pain it engenders are an undeniable part of being human. It’s natural to think of pain as something to be avoided at all costs. After all, who likes pain? Only a masochist, right?
But pain isn’t your enemy. I’ll explain why.
Your action step:
When you experience emotional pain, instead of resisting or avoiding it, try acknowledging it by simply admitting that what you’re going through is extremely painful. It’s truly that simple.
Give it a try. Refer to the Worksheet PDF for deeper insights. Then, click on the “Share My Reflection” button and let me know what you’re finding. Is there a shift in your relationship with pain?
